چکیده

Abstract Background Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the commonest lower respiratory tract infection, often complicated by cardiovascular events and cardiac arrythmias, such as new-onset Atrial Fibrillation (noAF). NoAF, a new or first detactable episode of chaotic irregular atrial rhythm, has been associated with increased mortality in CAP patients, especially critically-ill ones. However, prevalence noAF patients still unclear. Purpose We aimed to estimate pooled through systematic review meta-analysis literature. Methods PubMed EMBASE were systematically searched from inception 27th January 2022. All studies reporting included. The noAF, 95% Confidence Intervals (CI) Prediction (PI), computed using generalized linear mixed models. inconsistency index (I2) was calculated measure heterogeneity. Subgroup analyses according study design geographical location also performed. A protocol for this registered on PROSPERO (CRD42022307422). Results retrieved 4,947 records literature search, 11 finally included, total 346,192 patients; 5 (45%) conducted Europe, while 4 (36%) prospective studies. Pooled population 6.6% (95% CI 4.1–10.6, PI 1.0–33.6, I2=99%) [Figure 1]. No significant difference included found at subgroup analyses. Conclusions NoAF common being 1 out 15 CAP, pointing towards potential higher specific clinical scenarios. differences observed location. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: None.

Prognostic implications of aspiration pneumonia in patients with community acquired pneumonia: A systematic review with meta-analysis

Aspiration pneumonia is thought to be associated with a poor outcome in patients with community acquired pneumonia (CAP). However, there has been no systematic review regarding the impact of aspiration pneumonia on the outcomes in patients with CAP. This review was conducted using the MOOSE guidelines: Patients: patients defined CAP. EXPOSURE aspiration pneumonia defined as pneumonia in patie...

Mortality associated with atrial fibrillation in patients with myocardial infarction: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common finding in patients with myocardial infarction (MI). Atrial fibrillation is not generally perceived by clinicians as a critical event during the acute phase of MI; however, its prognostic influence in MI remains controversial. Furthermore, contradictory data exist concerning the risk of death according to AF timing. This article, a systematic revi...

Macrolide-based regimens and mortality in hospitalized patients with community-acquired pneumonia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Macrolides are used to treat pneumonia despite increasing antimicrobial resistance. However, the immunomodulatory properties of macrolides may have a favorable effect on pneumonia outcomes. Therefore, we systematically reviewed all studies of macrolide use and mortality among patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). METHODS All randomized control trials (RCTs)...

Viral infection in community-acquired pneumonia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The advent of PCR has improved the identification of viruses in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Several studies have used PCR to establish the importance of viruses in the aetiology of CAP.We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the studies that reported the proportion of viral infection detected via PCR in patients with CAP. We excluded studies with paediatric p...

Adjuvant steroid therapy in community-acquired pneumonia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among adults. Although steroids appear to be beneficial in animal models of CAP, clinical trial data in humans are either equivocal or conflicting. PURPOSE Our purpose was to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies examining the impact of steroid therapy on clinical outcomes among adul...
